In loving memory of Allan Paul Emerson Lett. Born January 20, 1939. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in his 85th year.

Predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Elinor Lett, who passed away two short months prior.

Dear father of Vicki Cole (George) and Stephen Lett. Loving Grandad to Issac (Amy), Alyssa, Austin (Katelyn) and Ashley (Jeff). Great-Grandad to Harry, Violet, Rylee and Landon.

Predeceased by his brother Robert Lett (Sharon) of Calgary, AB. Survived by Donald Lett (Beverly) of Cobourg, ON. Melvin Lett (Anne) of Lacombe, AB. And Barry Lett (Janet) of Ottawa, ON.

Al lived with Parkinson’s Disease for over 35 years. Everyone who knew him would agree that his cheerful and upbeat personality allowed for nothing to get in his way or slow him down.  Especially to the dessert table.

Born and raised in Ottawa, Al was the jokester amongst his friends. He went to teachers college and met his wife, Elinor, and married in 1961. They headed to NWT for 2 years before settling in Newmarket. They raised their family and became lifelong members of Grace Church.  Al enjoyed being a part of the church choir as well as playing a variety of musical instruments. They will be remembered by many friends at Grace.

Al and Elinor retired to Innisfil where Vicki and her family lived. They enjoyed life with grandkids while making weekly trips back to Newmarket for Sunday church. Al started a hobby with Ham Radios and enjoyed talking to people around the world. Al was very involved in the adventures of his grandkids. Grandad was the preferred pick-up person from elementary school where he was also a part of the parent council. There were plenty of trips to the park, strawberry picking, and Parkinson’s Awareness walks.  He also invented a breakfast staple, “woodpile cooled hot cereal” which is a fond memory of porridge being cooled for kid temperature outside on a pile of wood.

In 2010 Al and Elinor moved into the nanny suite with Vicki, George and the grandkids where they continued to enjoy life. When his Parkinsons progressed, he moved into the IOOF nursing home in Barrie.  He brought his joyful and spirited self and was loved by his caring staff.

Al (Grandad) will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.

Celebration of Life will be held at Innisfil  Funeral home on Dec 10th from 2 till 4.

In lieu of flowers, kindly donate on Al’s behalf to the Parkinson’s Foundation of Canada.
