BURT, Delmar -  BURT, Delmar - Passed away peacefully at Victoria Village in Barrie on Tuesday June 27th, 2017 in his 84th year. Beloved husband of the late Vivian Burt (nee Snell). Dear father of Tina Burt-O'Hara of Barrie and Terry Burt and his wife Denise of Stroud. Loving grandfather of Tom, Jessica, Jason and Jeffery. Delmar will be missed by his siblings Cheravine Brown of Markdale and Molly Powell of East Garafraxa.  Predeceased by his parents Robert and Myrtle (Weller) Burt and also his brothers and sisters Merwin, Evelyn Johnson, Bud "Robert", Donald, Kenneth, Alexander, Elmer and Ronald. Delmar who was born (April 5, 1934) and raised in Brampton joined the Canadian Army and had the rank of Corporal when he was Honorably Released Dec 1957. He married his beautiful wife Vivian in Aug 1957. He was a hockey coach of various ages and levels. He was a teacher for the Canadian Power Squadron for many years and in Nov 1983 he came out of retirement to help organize the new outfit and became the Commander of the Georgetown chapter.  He was a former Commander of both the Brampton chapter and the entire York West District. Working for NG for about 27 years, he had many positions and when the company relocated he took on a stronger role in the union to ensure all employees not relocating had new jobs. He took early retirement to travel Canada and the U.S. with his wife in a shiny truck and 5th wheel, settling in Florida many years for the winters. They returned to Canada to stay after a time and they took on the role of superintendent couple of an apartment building in Barrie and later resided in Stroud. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed cottaging, boating, family time with grandkids, always lent a hand to anyone that needed it and always had a box of treats in his truck for the family pets who waited for him to visit. He had a great sense of humor, was hardworking, dedicated, determined, friendly and kind. Special thanks to Dr. Michael McConvey who was excellent and the exceptional attentive care given by the Nurses and PSW's whose love and support to Delmar were given throughout his time at Victoria Village. Family and friends may call at the INNISFIL FUNERAL HOME, 7910 Yonge Street in Stroud on Monday July 3rd from 2:00 - 4:00 & 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday July 4th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation to follow. Interment of ashes at St. James Cemetery, Stroud Ontario at a later date. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
