Eric Collins

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Eric Collins, who left this world surrounded by love and deep gratitude on July 9, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on June 23, 1943, Eric embraced a life defined by joy, resilience, and a profound dedication to those around him.
Eric was a proud and strong Toronto firefighter. He loved and was proud of his job, always the first one in and the last one out, facing danger selflessly, driven by a calling to protect others. His colleagues and the many lives he touched remember his unwavering courage and sense of duty. He carried himself with a quiet dignity, each day arriving with a positive outlook and an open heart for service. As a firefighter, Eric made an impression on all he encountered, and his courage was matched only by his deep compassion and thoughtfulness for others.
Beyond the fire hall, Eric’s true legacy was the warmth with which he loved his family and friends. He was a caring man whose greeting was always accompanied by a smile, whose kindness filled every room, and who truly put others before himself. Never one to hesitate when a neighbour was in need, Eric inspired admiration through his acts of friendship and generosity. He was the pillar his family leaned on, loving them through thick and thin, full of grace and goodness.
Eric found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He delighted in spending time at his camp, casting a fishing line with family and friends, moments filled with laughter and shared stories. Mornings often found Eric on the deck, listening to birdsong, embracing the serenity of nature and the beauty of each new day. His presence brought comfort and joy—he genuinely wanted everyone to have a good day, and he lived with a hopefulness that lifted those around him.
He is survived by his devoted wife Suzanne, who was his steadfast companion. His memory will be cherished by his son, Christopher Collins (Brigette) and daughter, Tracy Kyle (Wade), his beloved grandchildren; Alicia Weick, Chelsey Collins, Emmilee Collins, Brianna Collins, and Brayden Collins, and his adored great-grandchildren; Aubree and Maeve. He also will be deeply missed by his brother, Paul Collins, and his lifelong friends, Pete and Linda Winters.
We remember, too, those who have gone before him: his mother Irene (Jack Wilkins), his father Robert, and his brother Michael. Their memory lives on in the stories told and the love that continues within the family Eric cherished so deeply.
Eric fought a good fight during his final days, displaying the same strength and courage with which he lived his life. The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who cared for him along this journey, especially Hospice Simcoe, whose love, understanding, and kind support provided comfort in his final moments.
His presence will be sadly missed by all who knew him, yet his legacy of kindness, courage, and grace lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the community that was fortunate to know him.
A visitation will be held on July 25, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Innisfil Funeral Home (7910 Yonge Street, Innisfil), followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM. All are welcome to stay afterwards for a reception, where light refreshments will be served and happy memories can be shared.
God bless him with open arms.
