With music in his soul and a comeback line always ready, Frederick Louis Spring took his final bow on November 4th, surrounded by love.
Born July 28, 1950, Fred lived a vivid 75 years on his own terms - sarcastic, funny, never sugarcoating anything, and stubborn right to the end (everyone who knew him is silently nodding).
He loved music more than most people love anything - especially the 50s, 60s and 70s. Fred didn’t just listen to music - he felt it. He knew the words, the harmonies, the riffs - and life was measured in songs, not years.
Fred is survived by his children, who inherited both his volume and his wit: Sheila Greschuk (Quinn), Tanya Barbiero (Domenico), and Melissa Spring.
“Grandpa Fred” was incredibly proud of his grandchildren: Christopher Fonseca (Maggie), Laura Fonseca (Jesse), Jayden, Tye Greschuk (Julie), and Paige Greschuk (Ian). He is now reunited with his grandsons Connor and Caleb, who will finally get the fishing trip he’s been promising!
He was also blessed to meet and love his great-grandchildren: Blake, James and Clark.
Fred is survived by his siblings: Patrick Spring (Jackie), Lynn Doerr (Jim), Lee Machado (predeceased by her husband, John Bond), and Lori Lepone (John). He was an uncle to many, and he loved every single niece and nephew.
Fred was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Maurice Machado. They raised him with grit and heart, and there’s no world in which Fred didn’t exceed in both!
Fred made a lasting impression everywhere he went, sometimes for his loud laugh, sometimes for his brutally honest one-liners, but always because he made sure you remembered him. He told stories loudly, he loved deeply, he fought hard, and now he rests peacefully.
The music hasn’t stopped, it’s simply moved to a different place.
