It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gail Marilyn Bates, on Saturday, September 5th, 2026, at Hospice Simcoe, at the age of 84.
Predeceased by her husband of 64 years Edward (Eddy) Bates.
From the day they met in Toronto as teenagers in 1958, they were inseparable. They shared a life together of raising their family and creating beautiful memories of travel, dancing, happy hour chats, and spending time with each other.
Gail is the cherished mother of Marilyn (John) Panczuk, Brian (Madeline) Bates, and the late Michele Bates. Loving grandmother of Tanya Panczuk, Justin (Nikki) Bates, Tyler (Allie) Panczuk, and Adam Bates. Sister of Violet, Roseann, and the late Robert.
Gail & Eddy spent many years of their lives raising their family in the town of Bolton, ON. Gail was an active long-distance walker. Many knew her around town with a friendly honk and a wave as she made her way to and from the Humberview Secondary School, where she enjoyed working in the cafeteria and meeting the many students over the years.
But mostly, she loved being on the dance floor embracing the love of her life, Eddy. There will be a visitation held at Innisfil Funeral Home on Monday, September 14th, 2026, from 2:00p.m. – 4:00p.m. and 6:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. and on Tuesday, September 15th, 2026, from 10:00a.m. until the time of Service at 11:00a.m. There will be a reception following the Funeral Service. Burial at St. Paul’s Cemetery at 1:30p.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Simcoe.
