It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of George Mehaffey in Barrie, Ontario on March 29, 2026, at the age of 89. George was a proud mild-mannered man who enjoyed his life to the fullest. He had a great sense of humor, loved his family deeply, and was never afraid to get his hands dirty with one project or another.
George was born May 30, 1936, in Scarborough ON to Gertude (Fockler) and William Mehaffey. He was a loving brother to William (Bill), David (Dave) (deceased) and Jack (deceased), many in-laws, as well as a caring Uncle to many nieces and nephews. George has now been reunited for eternity with his beloved wife, Lee (Aleda Billers) with whom he had his son, Douglas (deceased) and daughter, Deborah (Shawn Eeles). He also has 2 very much-loved grandchildren, Christopher (Erin) and Kyle.
George retired from Ford Motors after 30 years of service. He enjoyed camping, boating, hunting, snowmobiling, snow-shoeing and of course time spent with family and friends throughout the years. He was proud of earning his recreational pilots license and his many experiences flying small planes. Later in life, he, along with his wife Lee, loved to golf and spend winters in Florida.
George will be fondly remembered by his family and all who knew him.
Visitation will be held at the Innisfil Funeral Home, 7910 Yonge Street, Innisfil, on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 10:00am until the time of service in the Chapel at 11:00am. All are welcome to stay afterwords for a luncheon to continue sharing memories of George.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Lung Association in George's memory.
