Harvey Gerald Leader

d. November 12, 2017

Leader, Harvey Gerald How does one begin to say goodbye to a man who was loved by so many? It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Harvey Gerald Leader at the age of 80 on Sunday, November 12 with family by his side at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie. Harvey is survived by his loving wife, Maureen Leader, three devoted sons, Chris, Mark and Greg Leader along with their wives Tina, Denise and Jan Leader and his adoring grandchildren Royal, Jacob and Lucas Leader. Harvey was a family man to his core. His most precious moments in life were spent surrounded by his family, which fortunately, happened a lot. Anyone who knew Harvey would describe him as a gentle, kind and funny man. He had an uncanny ability to connect with everyone. He loved to talk, to anyone who would listen, and he was a great story teller. Harvey started his life in Qu’Appelle Valley, Saskatchewan in 1937. At the young age of 13 he set out with his grandmother, little suitcase in hand, to move to Belleville, Ontario. Harvey met his wife Maureen, fell in love, and they married when he was 21. He was a hard worker and a devoted husband. Harvey was a simple man. If asked, he would tell you his sole purpose in life was to love and care for his wife, his boys and his grandkids. His greatest gift was passing on his values of integrity, hard work, compassion and loyalty. Harvey will be greatly missed, by family, friends and acquaintances like.  He is gone, but will never be forgotten. He left his mark on the world and amazing memories for us to hold onto. The family has decided not to hold a funeral service at this time. Instead there will be a celebration of life in the Springtime.
