Ian Douglas "Doug" Hutcheon

March 11, 1950 — October 3, 2021

HUTCHEON, Ian Douglas (March 11, 1950 – October 3, 2021) - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ian Douglas Hutcheon “Doug” on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie. In his 71 years, he influenced so many lives of those he knew from his family, close friends and even those he had recently just met. Although he was battling (but never complaining) with his own health challenges over the past few years, his tremendous strength and resiliency to support and be there for his entire family was beyond heroic. With Doug’s passing, his Wife Mary, Son Chad (Cheryl), Daughter Cheryl (Mike), Sister Diane (Bill) and all family members will continue to reflect and cherish every minute of life shared with him. Doug’s five grandchildren, Luke, Tessa, McKenna, Mia and Lexi will always treasure the time they shared with Grandpa whether it be at the cottage, boating, at the rink or family Sunday dinners.  They loved him ever so deeply. As a Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle and Grandpa, Doug was definitely one of the good ones and will be missed by all. He was loved so much. The Hutcheon family would like to truly thank both Dr. Manolakos, Dr. Kang and the CCU nurses at Royal Victoria Hospital for their support, professionalism, and compassion in making this fragile time as smooth as possible. The family appreciates the sincere well wishes from everyone but will be holding an intimate and private ceremony in the coming days. At a later date, the family will be happy to share details and invite all family and friends to a Celebration of Life for Doug. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Kidney Foundation or Sick Kids Foundation through the INNISFIL FUNERAL HOME, 7910 Yonge Street (Stroud). Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.innisfilfuneralhome.ca
