Jeanne Catherine Satchel

Our family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Jeanne Catherine Satchel (née Lamson). Jeanne went peacefully on September 2, 2025, at the age of 78, in Barrie. Jeanne was a devoted wife to Robert (Bob) Satchel, who passed earlier this year, a cherished mom to Stephen Satchel (Gillian Shaw) and Laura Taylor (Michael), and a proud grandmother to Ben, Isabel, Owen, and Megan. She was predeceased by her sister Marilyn.

Jeanne grew up in Toronto with summers around Lake Simcoe. She had a challenging childhood that she and Marilyn had to overcome. When she was 15 she met Bob in Lefroy and lied about her age so that he would take her out. By the time she was 18 they were married and from then on she was devoted to her “blue eyes” for nearly 60 years. Jeanne wanted to have kids immediately and had her first born at 19. She was a stay-at-home mom who relished kids coming home for lunch, helping them with homework, baking treats, going on school trips, helping in the classroom and making sure they were very active in sports and other activities. Jeanne was always willing to help with other people’s kids too. She never missed a game or an important event – thanks to her, Steve and Laura grew up with a love and aptitude for sports and outdoor activities.

Jeanne’s passions in life were her family (which always included dogs) and her home on Purvis Street in Innisfil. In her later years the Toronto Blue Jays became as important to her as the Toronto Maple Leafs - no doubt in partial recognition that the Leafs seem destined to go 100 years without winning the Stanley Cup. She loved family get-togethers with her grandchildren, and she loved to just hang out with her dog, Bailey.

The family is deeply grateful to all the caregivers who helped Jeanne and Bob over the past year, with special mention to Jennifer Cole-Hughes, the Royalty Care team, and their amazing family doctor, Dr. Garrett Whyne.
