(“Dave” “Dad” “Coop” “Papa” “Grandpa”) passed away peacefully in his 84th year on September 17, 2025. Dave is predeceased by his parents John and Hilda and his cherished wife Lil. He leaves behind his daughters Jeannine (Trevor) and Jennifer (Kevin), grandchildren Emma, Matthew and Nicholas, brother Mike (Elaine), nephew Heath, niece Caren and his many friends.
Dave had a long and successful career in information technology and healthcare. As a director of information systems for several hospitals in Ontario and on the East Coast, Dave utilized new technologies and played a key role in helping these hospitals adapt to the modern age. While working, Dave gave back to his Newmarket community and was heavily involved in minor sports serving as a coach and referee for many years. Above all, Dave was a devoted husband to Lil and dad to Jeannine and Jennifer.
Dave and Lil retired to Sandy Cove Acres eighteen years ago. Dave made the most of retirement, serving on many committees, participating in clubs and community events and golfing.
As a family, we want to thank Dave for the life he lived and for leading us in ours. A life-long sports fanatic, he was our champion. He was always a pillar of strength to our family. In his waning years, he used that strength to push past his own significant pain and ailments to care for Lil as her own embers faded. That care and devotion is a testament to a love story that lasted over 60 years. When Lil left us just weeks ago, we quietly knew that her death was a pain he could not push past. While we grieve for our loss, we take comfort in knowing they are reunited.
We are forever grateful for the care and comfort provided by the staff and volunteers at Simcoe Hospice in his final weeks.
In lieu of tears, please think of Dave and Lil together and smile. Donations to Simcoe Hospice are welcome.
