John "Joe" Joseph Gregory

June 28, 1957 — October 1, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joe Gregory on October 1, 2025.

Born in Toronto, Ontario, Joe was the second of five brothers and is predeceased by his parents, Joe and Lucy Gregory. He was the loving and devoted husband of Janice for 46 years. Proud father of son Michael, and daughters Laurie (Mike), and Christine (Wally). The gracious and much-loved “Apple” (Grandpa), Nicolas & Bennett (his pals), Florence (“Joey-girl”) and he would have adored his newest grandson, Fraser.

Joe cherished time with his family above all else. Longtime residents of Scarborough, Joe and Janice built a home out of love. He was a hardworking and dedicated letter carrier for 37 years.

Joe loved spending his summers camping with his family across Ontario and at the family cottage on Lake Kennebec. Often waking up early to get in the best fishing, casting his line for hours in his Bass Tracker boat. Teaching his children from an early age how to bait their own hooks if you wanted to fish with him. An avid golfer in his day, he would finish his shift at the post office and hit the greens after work. Joe loved all sports, including coaching his daughters in fastball. He was proud that they could “throw some heat” on the field.

Joe was known for his sharp sense of humour, he loved a good joke and had an infectious laugh. He loved a good deal. He had a serious sweet tooth — especially when it came to homemade treats during the holidays. He gave the best hugs, always had a listening ear and was the very best dad.

Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in his 30s, Joe lived with quiet strength and resilience; he did not let his illness define him. Though MS changed his life, it never dimmed his spirit.

While his later years should have looked different, he was fortunate to spend them with Janice, his greatest and closest companion, his children and grandchildren. We are grateful for the lessons he taught us in strength, courage and love. A true family man, who took great care of all of us.

Joe will be dearly missed by all but he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strength. His body is finally at rest, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Joe’s life at The Innisfil Funeral Home Limited 7910 Yonge Street Innisfil, Ontario L9S 1L5.
