John Rossiter, who passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, in his 92nd year.
John was born on July 7, 1934, in Owen Sound. In the 1950s, he married the love of his life, Gwen, and together they built a life in Barrie filled with devotion, quiet strength, and enduring love. John was predeceased by his beloved Gwen in 2011, a loss he carried with gentle grace.
He leaves behind his loving children, Doug (Lisa), Jeff (Krista), and daughter-in-law Helena, as well as his cherished granddaughter Katy, who brought him immense pride and joy.
John began his career with Ontario Hydro in 1952 and dedicated 41 years of service to the company, retiring as a Drafting Supervisor. He took great pride in his work and in providing for his family through decades of commitment and steady dedication.
Outside of his career, John found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid stamp collector for many years, enjoyed travelling, and appreciated long walks. A very quiet man, John was soft-spoken, thoughtful, and a true gentleman. His calm presence and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the volunteers of Meals on Wheels in Barrie for their kindness, compassion, and support.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Innisfil Funeral Home, 7910 Yonge Street, Innisfil, from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating through the funeral home to Alzheimer Society of Canada or Arthritis Society Canada in Johns’ memory.
John’s life was one of quiet strength, loyalty, and love — a legacy that will live on in the hearts of his family.
