We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Gerry Frigault, who left us peacefully, surrounded by a room full of love, on August 10, 2025, in his 85th year at Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie.
Beloved husband of Viola (Desroches) for just shy of 62 wonderful years. Devoted father of Janet (Ken) Downing, Donald (Kathleen) Frigault, and Angela (Harry) Frigault. Loving Papa to Kyle (Kelly) Thompson, Jessica (Matthew) Cameron, Kayla Frigault, Alexander (Bree) Frigault, Nicole McCabe, Keegan McCabe, and Rowan McCabe. Proud Great-Pappy to Wyatt Thompson, Weslyn Thompson, Theodore Frigault, and Omni Frigault.
Gerry was born and raised in St. Louis de Kent, NB, the twelfth of fifteen children. He was fiercely proud of his family and his French Canadian "Acadien" roots. He often shared fond memories of the love and closeness that came from growing up in such a large, tight-knit family.
By the age of 20, Gerry had settled in Toronto, where he soon met the love of his life. They married in 1963, began their family, and in 1972 bought their first home in Newmarket, where they raised their children. In later years, they embraced life as empty nesters, moving first to Bradford and eventually to Innisfil.
There was very little Gerry couldn’t fix or build. Brilliant and resourceful, he especially enjoyed the ongoing challenge of repairing Vi’s washing machine or dryer; much to her chagrin. Always the handyman, he was still painting and hanging drywall into his late 70s.
He loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter, and treasured his time at the hunt camp with his buddies. Whether or not he came home with a deer, it was the friendship and camaraderie he cherished most.
Gerry also had a passion for music. He loved playing his guitar, singing along, and encouraging everyone to join in. Above all, Gerry loved his family—and we loved him. His passing leaves a hole in our hearts that no one else can fill.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Innisfil Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at St. John Vianney Church, 13 Baldwin Lane, Barrie, on Friday, August 15, from 10:00a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00a.m.. Refreshments will be served after the Service. Cremation to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
Forever in our hearts.
