Robert Malcolm MacDonald

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Robert Malcolm MacDonald, on Friday, November 1st, 2024, in Smoky Lake, Alberta, at the age of 54.

Rob—also known as Robbie—will now be forever with his beloved partner, the love of his life, and with his mother, who passed before him. Cherished father of Chris and Karlee, and a proud and loving family man. Dear brother of Penny and Scott.

Rob will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his partner's daughters, who he cared for deeply, as well as by his nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and the many friends whose lives he touched.

A dedicated Military Veteran, Rob proudly served in the Canadian Army for 23 years, retiring with the rank of Master Corporal. He was known for his generosity, compassion, strength, and unwavering sense of justice. Rob loved nothing more than going fishing, riding his motorcycle, playing his guitar, and singing the old country songs he held close to his heart.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held in Rob’s honour on Saturday, June 21st, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, 215 Mississauga St, East, Orillia. All who knew and cared for Rob are welcome to join us to share stories, memories, and a final toast to a life well lived. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Robert to VETS Canada.
