August 23, 1949 – April 7, 2026

Sandra Phillips passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie, Ontario, surrounded by the love of her family.

Sandra was a woman of immense spirit and tireless energy, leaving behind a legacy of care that stretched far beyond her own home and into the heart of her community.

For 30 years, Sandra was a familiar and friendly face as a school bus driver. Her devotion to others was reflected in her years as a foster parent and through her service with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion. At the arena, she was a fixture for the Picton Pirates, billeting players and working the snack bar to support "her boys."

That same spirited energy followed her home, where she could almost always be found at the kitchen table. It was her "front row seat" for every Toronto Blue Jays game and the place where she shared the most time with those she loved.

Her greatest joy was found in her roles as a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. While she answered to many titles, the one she wore with the most pride was Nana. Sandra wasn't just Nana to her own grandchildren; she was Nana to her children’s friends, her grandchildren’s friends, and anyone in need of a grandmother’s warmth.

Sandra is survived by her children: Bryan (Trish), Loriann, and Vicki. She was the cherished Nana of Cayle, Brody, Ryleigh, Travis, Cole (Kristen), Kasandra, Jayden, Sarah, and Serene; and the adored great-grandmother of Hayden, Avery, Alyis, and Belle. She will be deeply missed by her siblings Diane, Larry, Bobby, and Michael, as well as her many nieces and nephews. She is now reunited with her brothers, Clifford and Bill, who passed before her.

Sandra’s life was defined by her care for others rather than ceremony. In keeping with her wishes, a private cremation will take place and no formal service will be held. Her legacy of love and community will instead be celebrated at a gathering later this summer.

Remembering Sandra Together

In commemoration of Sandra’s 77th birthday, the family will host a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 22nd (the eve of her birthday) from 1-6pm. Please reach out to the family directly for location details. They look forward to an afternoon of sharing stories and celebrating the many ways Sandra made life a little brighter for everyone.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Sandra’s name to the Royal Canadian Legion or the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH).
