Born in 1925 in Lithuania, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
Wallace immigrated to Canada as a very young boy and proudly served his adopted country. He rose to the rank of Captain in the Canadian Military, serving with distinction in both the Second World War and the Korean War. He went on to study Chemical Engineering @ the U of T. His courage, discipline, and devotion to service were hallmarks of his character and remained with him throughout his life.
In 1946, Wallace married the love of his life, Jean Thornton. They shared more than five decades of marriage before Jean’s passing in 1998. Together they built a life centered on family and community. Wallace was a devoted father to his three children: Linda Bruton, Wally Mildon (predeceased by his wife Joanne in 2006), and Andrew (married to Lisa). He was a proud grandfather to Elizabeth (married to Adam), Jacob, and Ryan, and a delighted great-grandfather to Abigail and Mitchell. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Wallace will be remembered for his generosity, his sharp wit, and his unshakable sense of duty. He lived a long and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy of service, love, and integrity.
Wallace will be laid to rest on September 27, 2025 at 11:30 am at Sanctuary Park Cemetery in a small graveside ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Simcoe in Wallace’s memory.
